As we are pursuing the Word of God and the Spirit of God, one of the main ways to plug in and truly know God is by taking time to read the Bible. The goal of daily reading scripture is not to just check off a list to say that you did something for God, but the goal is to deepen your relationship with God by finding out more about His love for us, His story and plan for our world, and to have Him change you from being less like Him to more like Him.
What many people do at CCC, including Pastor Gregg, is they use the ESV One Year Bible reading plan daily. It breaks down the Old and New Testaments into manageable chunks. If you are just starting out reading for the first time and find that it's too much to begin with both the Old and New Testaments, start with the New Testament reading for a little, then add in the Psalm/Proverb, and then together with the Old Testament.
Again, the goal is not to just say that you read your Bible, but to cultivate your relationship with the one true living God who desires to love you and bring you closer to Him.
There are a couple different ways of doing this plan:
2. Download the .pdf of the One Year Bible reading plan. and read from your own Bible.
3. Purchase the ESV One Year Bible. The link here is to Amazon, but we also try to have several in the church in the resource center where you can buy it as well.
We pray that God uses this reading time to be an amazing step of growth in your life, and in the lives of others that you touch!
